Then for the next half hour or so the game ends. You are greeted with two characters monologuing at you exposition of what your goal is, what is the conflict, and why you should care. You can't skip it, you get three or four of these before you get to a puzzle. They are unskipable.The fun in a Myst game is piecing the story yourself, while solving puzzles and seeing sights. It's being dropped off to other enviorment with no idea what to do next before you invastigate. Hearing charcters speak of what you need to knw while looking at thier crude unfiting faces just doesn't do it. I wanted to try some of the puzzles but realized I just have better games to play.. Myst 5 is a strange game. It feels absolutely nothing like the previous myst games, and seems more like a sequel to the spinoff game Uru. But that isn't exactly surprising, considering it is made from unused Uru content. The story is extremely simple for a myst game and the ages (worlds) you explore lack almost any kind of interactivity. Still, I found it very enjoyable. Myst 5 has a certain atmosphere that I've never really seen anywhere else. The music, the graphics, the voice acting... Everything just goes together perfectly and makes the game an unforgttable experience. I understand why people may think it's a dissapointing end to the series, I mean, if this wasn't in real time 3d, it would be painfully obvious how much it's been dumbed down compared to the previous games. Still, this is a subjective matter and personally I found it both very gripping and immersive. Would recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle-adenture games. You don't even need to have played the previous myst games. Sure, if you have played them, you'll understand certain refrences and appreciate the game even more, but it's not necessary. I played this before Riven, Myst 3 or Myst 4 and I understood pretty much everything.Anyway, final score: 9/10. Story was to short, the acting wasnt good either. would have preferred more of what they did in the other myst games.. This is really one of the best adventure games of all time!. For those who loved the games that led up to this one, I would not suggest getting this one. It was shoter than the other games, and doesnt seem to follow the story of the originals at all. Also, the puzzles are simpler, requiring very little effort to figure them out, and there are far fewer of them. The new gameplay mechanic of the tablets is intresting, however, and became an intresting way of creating puzzles that fit in the world, and didnt seem out of place, like creating wind to make a creature move (as a simple example). For those who didnt want to read what I wrote, here is a simplified list:Pros:- Better Graphics and controls- Unique gamplay mechanicsCons- Easy Puzzles- Few Puzzles- Disconnected StoryOverall, I would say not to get this game. However, if you are one of the curious ones, who plan to get this game regardless of this review, I would suggest getting it only while on sale.
